living in an Airstream.

So we are living in the Airstream, and I wanted to show you what our new living room looks like. It's very small, and we are learning that every square inch matters. But it's comfortable enough. The rest of the Airstream is still being worked on.

  2. It's coming along. We plan on restoring the exterior to vintage someday. As authentic as possible. However, based upon the severity of the damage and obsoleescence of much of the interior furnishings and fixtures, we are having to customize a bit. We ripped everything out of the bedroom and installed a custom platform to fit our queen-size bed. The living room is wide open for more space and comfort. We don't mind sitting on the floor anyway. Also, we just ripped out the old Dometic refrigerator (what a chore!) and installed a energy-efficient frig with enough room to place our microwave and toaster above it. Cool. We'll post some more pics shortly.

  3. Malene,
I checked out your blog, and I think it's wonderful!! In fact you've inspired us to name our airstream. We're looking for sugestions. and I was wondering, How much work did you do to the interior? and do you just take weekend trips?

    Well, have a great day!!

  4. Hi again. We did zero work to the interior. It's called the Ocean Breeze model and came fully decorated with bamboo and palm trees. The palm trees are a bit much but they are slowly growing on me. We are currently doing weekend trips but will hopefully be able to hit the road full-time for a bit. Trying to figure out our timing at this exact moment. Are you planning to taking your airstream on the road in the future?

  5. Not really. It's road ready, however, do to our circumstances we don't have cash to travel. So we are just going to be living in it on the farm. Hopefully some time in the future we hope to travel with it, but Ed doesn't enjoy towing it.

  11. Hello! Your airstream looks amazing! Quick question, my parents just started living in one and I wanted to get them things for Christmas that might make their adjustment easier. What types of things are needed when living in an airstream? They were talking about needing a place for clothes. Any ideas? Thanks! reply to eraiello@yahoo.com

  12. sooo i am a single mother of two and just bought our new home 3 days ago. A 1975 airstream soveriegn 31ft. Where this decision came from was unknown to me. I thought about it in the morning, found one in the middle of the day from a girl with my name, Tammy but hers with an ie, and then bought it that night. My hands are covered in band-aids, from the stripping of my airstream. I have found this underground airstream lifestyle and it excites me. I am trying to convince my 7 year old daughter that our new home will be awesome my 1 1/2 yr. old son could care less either way. Any pointers on fixin up our airstream single mom style? Would LOVE any info thanks hope to hear from you soon
